6th INTERNATIONAL POTATOPRINT FESTIVAL
August 1214th 2011
Kabala Community Center, Sauna 2, Kabala village, Türi parish, Järva county, Estonia.

This years theme is “Kiri” * pattern, font, script.
*Word “kiri” is an ancient Baltic-Finnic word and means at the same time patterns and patternmaking, letters, fonts and writing. In old phraseology it meant even bible and other books as books were patterned with letters.

In this years festival we will ponder over these different aspects of Estonian word “kiri”. Different lectures and workshops connected with patterns, fonts and writing will take place.
In addition we will also continue using natural colours in potatoprinting and print textiles and wallpapers with potato.

Lectures and workshops:

“Patternmind, letter-language – Estonian national ornament” Reet Talimaa (EST) – textile artist
“Writer on abroad – emigration as escapism” Vahur Afanasjev (EST) – writer
“Angular Estonian fonts” Mart Anderson (EST) – graphic designer
“Red bugs and Indigoblue” Ulla Lapiolahti (FIN) – textile artist

26.01 - 25. 09.2011

Kolmapäeval 26. jaanuaril avatakse Eesti Rahva Muuseumi Näitusemajas näitus:
“VIIS AASTAT KARTULITRÜKI FESTIVALI” kus on näha paremik viiel Rahvusvahelisel Kartulitrüki Festivalil valminud töödest. Näitus on osa näituseprojektist "Euroopa maitsed", mida saab näha käesoleva aasta 25. septembrini.
